Wizard On the Stairs

Kalib

"Wizard on the Stairs" is a classic singer/songwriter country rock song with a modern lyric twist. How the magic of tools and intent allows us to be supportive of our loved ones, even if we are not present or even visible.

A promise was made to a dear friend a while back "you kick cancer, and I'll write you a song". "Wizard on the Stairs" was the result. Pick your favorite version of the song from the three final mixes, or the two original demos. Also included are two mixes of the B-Side "Take Me Back".

Kalib DuArte is a San Francisco based singer/songwriter who blends traditional country-rock and folk with electronic production. "Wizard on the Stairs" is the first single from his album "The Package that Never Arrives". Editing by Tyrone Stanford, and final mix by award winning producer Sefi Carmel.

Glisten

Kalib

"Glisten" shimmers with the presence of a loved one who is near, yet far away.

Set to music produced by Kalib, Ariane Wolfe wrote the song "Glisten". It was inspired by sensing the presence of a long lost dear family member while on a sunny day hike . A haunting, yet joyful reflection on life, our connections to people, and the world around us.

The Package That Never Arrives

Kalib

Waiting for the future's potential.

Combining world, electronica, blues, and singer/songwriter elements, the song asks the question "will we ever arrive, or simply kick the can down the road, until there is no longer a road?" Is anyone still listening?

A bit of Pop-Country-Rock for the gal you miss.

Way to Somewhere

Kalib

A traveler hums internal reflections while looking out of a restaurant window. He sees people dashing to and fro in a crowded plaza, trying to avoid the rain and it's consequences.

One rainy afternoon, a friend who had moved to England, Edward Thomas Keller, posted a message that read, "I'm in the doldrums and can't work on music". I replied, "write me a song to sing by the end of the day". Within a few hours, the demo for 'Way to Somewhere' was in my hands. Producer Tyrone Stanford listened, got jazzed, and created a whole new arrangement using edgy guitars, pizzicato strings, bass slides, and RnB back up singers. What else do you hear in there?

The Holy Mountain

Kalib

Reflecting on the journey to self enlightenment, getting beyond personal drama, and the trap such a journey can become.

One Sunday morning, this wrong wrote itself. I watched as the words come flowing out of my fingers onto the screen. No clue what they were about until a certain film appeared and explained it all. The desire to grow can become an obsession. Even it my need to go, if one is to be present.

Obsessing

Kalib

Just another Country Rock infused song from a broken heart. Who writes a letter, when texting is quicker.

"She'd been gone for over a year and I'd tried to write a song about the experience. It just refused to happen. Then one afternoon, bamn! it was fully formed in my head: the words, the melody, the structure. Its the only time this has ever happened. Friends convinced me to change two words, but otherwise it's the same."
